Important information

Because this is a modified-release formulation, the tablet is designed to release gliclazide gradually. It should be taken exactly as prescribed and generally swallowed whole rather than chewed or crushed.

The most important risk is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which can cause sweating, shaking, dizziness, confusion, or weakness. Gliclazide can also contribute to weight gain.

This is a prescription medicine, so dosing should be determined by the patient’s doctor based on blood-glucose control and other medications.
